an(other) studio residency

Beginning Fall 2026

I’m opening my studio to another artist for a period of focused parallel practice — what some people call body doubling, what I think of as radical hospitality. You bring your work. I bring mine. We work alongside each other.

This is a continuation of my research into what it means to be genuinely present beside another person in practice. It is also an experiment in community and cross-pollination. The value runs both ways.

what’s offered

Up to 20 hours per week of shared studio time over 4 to 6 weeks. The studio is a modest working space in my home with easels, desks, monitors, and a printer. There is a bathroom with shower and access to a fridge, coffee, and tea. Timing and scheduling are flexible and arranged together. There is no cost.

what I ask in return

Public acknowledgment of the residency, and a short online artist talk at the close — a conversation about what each of us made and what the experience produced. Think of it as a debrief that belongs to both practices.

who this is for

Artists at any stage working in any discipline, with an active project and a genuine interest in shared practice. Submissions are considered on a rolling basis — pitch your project and your timing and we’ll see if it fits.

a few things to know

The studio is in my home. There is a dog. Other family members may be present outside studio hours. Solvents are not permitted — OMS in limited quantities is fine. If you work with materials that require ventilation or significant cleanup this probably isn’t the right fit.

Given the nature of the space, access to the studio is not permitted when I am not on premises. Studio access will be negotiated to accommodate both practices in a safe and sustainable way.

to apply

Send a brief description of your current project, where you are in your practice, what you’re hoping the experience gives you, and a few images of recent work. Please provide one professional reference and two personal references.

If the proposal is accepted, an informal in-person meeting will be arranged to discuss next steps.
