My teaching is grounded in a research-based studio practice with experience helping others develop skills in painting, drawing, installation, and community-based work. Instruction is tailored to where you are, technically, conceptually, and professionally. I work with students at all stages, from foundational practice to graduate-level development.

Sessions can focus on technical skill, critique, professional practice, or some combination of all three. If you’re not sure which format fits, get in touch and we’ll figure it out together.

1:1 instruction

Private sessions tailored specifically to your goals — from foundational techniques to advanced portfolio development.

Rate: $75 per hour

Duration: Minimum 1.5 hours per session recommended

Materials: Not included — a customised list provided on booking

semi-private lesson

A focused, one-off technical workshop for two or three people. Ideal for friends or colleagues working at a similar level.

Rate: $95 per person

Duration: 2 hours

Materials: Not included

six-week small group

A structured program designed to build consistency and depth in your practice. Groups of two to three people, with sessions customised to the group’s focus.

Possible themes include: The Painted Portrait, Colour and Light, Still Life, or a direction we develop together.

Rate: $450 per person

Frequency: One 2-hour session per week for six consecutive weeks

Total: 12 hours of instruction

Materials: Not included

mentorship

For artists who need a thinking partner rather than technical instruction. We work together on the things that don’t happen in the studio, critique, professional development, artist statements, exhibition preparation, graduate school and grant applications, or navigating a return to practice after time away.

Available online or in person. Structured as a series of four or six sessions with a focus agreed upfront.

Rate: Pricing on inquiry

policies & terms

The “Solo” Clause — Small Group Minimums

To maintain the discounted group rate, a minimum of two students is required for semi-private lessons and six-week courses.

If only one student registers, you will be notified 48 hours before the start date. You may choose to:

(A) Upgrade to private 1:1 sessions at the standard hourly rate, or

(B) Receive a full refund or credit.

Materials

Students are responsible for providing their own paints, brushes, and surfaces. Upon registration, you will receive a curated materials list with recommendations for local Toronto suppliers — including Above Ground and Desseres — to ensure you have the correct professional-grade tools for your sessions.

Payment & Cancellations

Payment: Due in full at the time of booking to secure your date and time.

Cancellations: 48 hours’ notice is required for a full refund or rescheduling. Cancellations made with less than 48 hours’ notice are non-refundable.

Course commitment: For the six-week program, missed sessions by the student cannot be refunded or made up individually, though digital critiques may be offered as a substitute.
